Dr. Rachel Reed is a medical optometrist and residency-trained pediatric eye specialist in Redwood City, CA serving the Peninsula and the greater Bay Area. 

About Dr. Rachel Reed

Dr. Rachel Reed is a residency-trained optometrist who provides comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages including specialized pediatric eye care.

A Massachusetts native, Dr. Reed earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA where she subsequently completed a residency in pediatric optometry. She trained at several hospitals and health centers in the Boston area including Boston Children’s Hospital, Tufts Medical Center, and Boston Medical Center.

Dr. Reed especially enjoys caring for children and patients with disabilities, and she happily offers non-verbal eye exams. Her clinical interests include strabismus (eye misalignment), amblyopia (lazy eye), myopia (nearsightedness) control, binocular vision (eye teaming, focusing, and tracking) disorders, and contact lens fitting.

Dr. Reed is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Santa Clara County Optometric Society.

In her free time, she enjoys painting, photography, hiking, and trying new restaurants

Education and Training

Undergraduate Studies

Dr. Rachel Reed completed her undergraduate studies at Roger Williams University, majoring in biology.  

Optometric Studies

After Roger Williams University, Dr. Reed studied at New England College of Optometry to earn a Doctorate in Optometry, with a concentration in Pediatric Optometry.

Optometric REsidency

An optometric residency is an additional year of post-graduate clinical education that can be pursued by optometrists that desire advanced clinical training in a focused area of optometry.

Dr. Reed stayed to complete an Optometric Residency in Pediatrics New England College of Optometry.
